Beyond Bridge

Hema Deora

It’s been a year and eight months the killer pandemic engulfed the entire world in no time. In order to save our lives, but not our livelihood the government announced a total lockdown.

Suddenly toiling hard to survive, petrified poor daily workers having no shelters began to migrate to reach their little hut in their village to be with their loved ones.

Seeing these visuals on the TV the thought haunted my mind and with heavy heart I just put down these few line of the description of these visuals.

IMMIGRANTS

Tears In Their Eyes
They Walked In The Blazing Skies
Babies, Empty Bellies And Burning Toes
No Anger, No Hunger Miles And Miles To Go
Like Migrating Birds Trampling Behind One Other
In Fear Of Death Be With Loved Ones, Rather!
Immigrant Of A Virus, Forced Upon Them
No Clue Of Returning For What And When
Silently I Prayed With My Heavy Heart
God Please Bless Them As They Depart!

Happy bridging, rain or shine.

  • The sufferings and plight of the immigrants during the initial stages of CoVid 19 very nicely captured. Very much appreciate and share the feelings and sympathy for the hapless victims.👍

  • Very moving and evocative writing. People suffered so very much and your words capture the hardship and suffering that they went through so well
