Violence in Bridge

V N Ramamoorthy

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The game of bridge is for gentlemen; a term which includes gentle women.

It sure is a game with civility , camaraderie, niceties and curtsies. But is there room for violence?

It is perfectly lawful to murder a hand (deal), but not your partner or an opponent, unfortunately😢

You can "Kill" the dummy by all means! Some bridge players and teams have a penchant to call themselves "Smiling assassins" !

"Eliminating" someone is punishable under criminal law. But it is perfectly legal on a bridge table!

Suicides are criminal offences under Cr.PC. but suicidal squeezes in bridge are lawful manoeuvers 🙃.

Not to speak of euthanasia ( mercy killing) - it is a perfect strategy in bridge. By a progressive squeeze you can strangle both your opponents, gleefully!

In sum and substance, one needs a criminal streak to win on the table albeit your civility 🙂

Be violent on the bridge table - it pays dividends.

Thank god the boards are made of plastic to avoid bloodshed 😌

Happy bridging ,

VNR
