Weekend Swiss Pairs
Shankar Ghosh and Swapan Some win Gold Pairs
Shankar Ghosh and Swapan Some won the Gold Section of the Pre Christmas Pairs comfortably ahead of Sumit Saha and Swapan Sardar. The third pair, also from Kolkata was Arnab Ghosh and Babhrubahan Bose. The last named pair appeared to be heading for a comfortable victory till a series of disasters in their last three boards caused them to square their match with their opponents. Nevertheless, it was a very creditable performance for them to catapult themselves up from 8th place.
