A Life Well Lived, A Game Well Played

Bridge teaches us that every hand — good or bad — must be played with courage, clarity, and grace.

Dr. Helekar lived his life the same way. From a young boy learning cards at home, to a medical student discovering bridge in a hostel, to a doctor, mentor, teammate, husband, brother, and friend — he played every chapter with heart.

His story reminds us that the true measure of a person is not in trophies or titles, but in the love they give, the people they touch, and the memories they leave behind.

He groomed players, shaped teams, and led them to victories that mattered not because of trophies, but because of the camaraderie they created. He had a gift for bringing people together, for seeing potential in others, for teaching without ever making anyone feel small.

Among all the places he played, Borivali Sports Club held a special place in his heart. He didn’t just play there — he contributed to its growth, its spirit, its identity. And in that, he was extraordinary.

He is remembered not for the tournaments he won, but for the dignity with which he played, the kindness he carried, and the quiet brilliance he shared so generously.

Bridge From Home is honored to partner with Borivali Sports Club to conduct this "Dr. Helekar Memorial Swiss Pairs Event".
