How to seat yourself in a large event

Introduction

In large pairs events conducted by BridgeFromHome, we try to provide each player with a personalized login so that it is easy for people to find an appropriate seat opposite partner without having to go the scramble of searching for a place and making sure partner comes there.

However, we find that a few of you are still facing a lot of problems seating yourselves. Hence we have kind of written a manual on how this is supposed to work for your ready reference.

This is actually sort of a white paper on the topic. This article is being written because of the number of queries we receive when we reserve seating for pairs. This is an imortant article. Particularly for people who are not too tech savvy and have trouble with it. Please book mark this page for ready reference.

Would recommend that even people who know the process book mark it so that they can share with their partners. This will really be of help to us.

We will try to take each step mentioned in the instructions and elaborate them for you.

Go to BridgeFromHome.com

This is the place where most not tech savvy people go wrong. Almost all the calls I have fielded on this step have been because people end up on the page where the event is listed.

So, here are a few pointers.

1. When we tell you to go to BridgeFromHome.com, we are telling you to go to the Home Page

You can see the address of the web page boxed in Red. You can notice that apartfrom BridgeFromHome.com, you see nothing else in the address bar.
Also, if you are at the home page, you should see the image below (we have boxed it in green.

2. If you do not see the above, you are not at the home page.

Even if you are not, that it not a big issue. It is easily corrected as shown below

In the image alongside, you can see that the page has something written after 'bridgefromhome'. Therefore, this is not the home page. In order to reach to home page, all you have to do is to click on Home, shown in the blue square here. You will be taken to the first page.

Look for the Seating Block

You can see a block below the banners (It is almost always the first block) which shows the seating for any event.
If you cannot see your name among the first few names shown, do type your name in the search box (boxed in Red here). Normally, the first few letters of your name should display your name (along with your partner's name) for you.

Click on your name

This will open the login link in a new table or page. Go to that page.
The page will open along with your name duly filled.

On this page click Login

Clicking on login will take you directly to your seat. You should yourself at the base of the screen as shown in this photograph.

Do make a note of your table number. This will enable you to return here in case of accidents. This is highlighted in the blue box in the to the left.

Do not press the leave button.

During pairs events, it is best to never press the leave button. That will ensure that you will always return to the appropriate table even if you are thrown out by mistake. You can either close the window or simply leave your machine on and return after the break. (In teams events though, you should always press the leave button before closing the window).

We hope all of you find this document useful. We once again request all of you to book mark it.

Thank you
