KK Memorial Day 1

The K Krishnakumar Memorial Tournament got under way yesterday with 40 teams participating in the Swiss League. The overwhelming participation has made us increase the number of qualifiers from 6 to 8 as also the number of qualifying rounds. We thank all of you for your enthusiastic response.

We would also like to thank Mr. N. Niranjan who contributed to the total prize kitty as well in memory of KK, who was a regular member of his team (Nest Inn) till he passed away.

This contribution, along with your response, has enabled us to increase the total prize money by close to 70% to a total of Rs. 84,000.

Swiss League

The Nest Inn team has got off to a flying start by collecting almost all the victory points available on the table in the first two rounds (39.24). They are followed by Arun Jain with 36.06 VPs. The full results, which will be updated after each round, will be seen here. At the end of today, 8 teams will qualify for the super league.

It is, of course, too early to say who the qualifiers will be as also what the qualifying mark will be. I would hazard a guess at around 90 VPs. I was toying around with the idea of starting a pool on the qualifying mark, but I unfortunately lack the time. Would be interesting if some entrepreneur got around to doing it though.

IMP Pairs

There will be an IMP pairs event held tomorrow for those who could not participate in the Swiss Teams or qualify for the Super League. This event would be held over 2 sessions starting 1030 am. We would really like to see a huge turn out for this event and hope you will respond. We thank you in advance for your participation.
