KK Memorial Day 3

Swiss Teams

Team Jiya (Anirban Sarkar - Baskar ganguly - Bhaskar Sarcar - Kachchu - Partha Banerjee - Sujan Choudhury) had a phenomenal last round in the super league, virtually blanking out Rampage to win the KK Memorial Tournament.

They literally snatched the cup from the lips of Mavericks (Subodh Maskara, Anal Shah, Debabrata Majumder, Keyzad Anklesaria, Jaggy Shivdasani and Sandeep Thakral) who must have been extremely disappointed after winning all their matches with an average of over 14 VPs per match.

Team IndoCan (Abdi naffar - Aliff Fazelbhoy - Anurag Pandey - Moti Thadani - Nitin Vaidya - Satish Govind Diwanji) continued their creditable performance, finishing 4th overall.

The full results can be seen here.

IMP Pairs

Arvind Vaidya and Vivek Bhand literally ran away with the IMP pairs title, finishing with 95.73 IMPs, more than 34 more than the second placed Partha Sartha Mukherjee and Aloke Sadhu. We are particularly glad to see Arvind win this event after what can only be described as a horrifying experience with the NADA. We wish him many more successes in the future.

We would also like to commend Tara Laroia and Veena Bob for their extremely creditable 4th place finish in a fairly long event in a good field. We wish them more success in the future.

Vote of Thanks

At the outset, this phenomenal event was the brainchild of Arun Jain who had been wanting to do this for a while.

Mr. N Niranjan also added his bit to the prize money purse, for which we are extremely grateful.

Mrs. Preethi Nair, KK's wife was gracious enough to provide us with several photographs which you have seen of his various exploits.

We would also like to thank all the people who took out the time to write eulogies to KK as also those who provided us with the basic information on KK.

And last, but not least, we would once again thank all of you for your phenomenal response without which the event would not have been the success it was.
