Ladies and Gentlemen,
Imagine if there were a bridge equivalent to IPL of cricket.
After the advent of the IPL format of T20, the traditional, text-book styles of batting, bowling, fielding, - why, even umpiring have gone through a sea- change 🙃
You don't score runs any more - you just steal. And if you are on the bowling side, you simply try to "Steal" wickets!
Much the same happens on a bridge table too. If you can't win tricks, just steal them - applies equally to the declarer and defenders 😂
You improvise in both. A reverse sweep or a dummy reversal, a cross bat or a cris-cross squeeze - no holds barred 😢
Stealing is legal, in Bridge. So Kleptomania is not necessarily an OCD ( Obsessive Compulsory Disorder)
In fact, to be a "Kleptomaniac" on the bridge table is a virtue to be developed passionately 😃😅
There is an old adage in cricket - If you can't score runs, stop the runs. In Bridge scenario it can be said "If you can't win tricks, purloin them"!
Next time when you are in a 3NT contact and you can count only 8 winners, don't despair.. Just steal the 9th trick early in the day 🥰
Nothing unethical about it. Go ahead, be a Kleptomaniac in Bridge 🙂!
Happy thievery in Bridge,
Cheers
VNR
