An obdurate passion, indeed!

V N Ramamoorthy

There is this old saying which goes "Habits die hard". So be it.

But what about passions? Well, they never die!

The passion one develops for the game of bridge is an enigmatic puzzle! ( The tautology is deliberate 🙃).

When the habit of bridge blossoms into an "Obdurate" passion, you never care, whether you win or lose. Whether you play, watch or read.. It doesn't matter. You just want to be there!

Some days, you have the midas touch - whatever you do on the table turns gold. And there are days when you are in an abysmal low after which you feel like changing your skill level to "Palooka", may be!

One day you get invited by a total stranger from a country you have never heard of! His card and system sounds Greek and Latin 😢. Yet, you both sail smooth for a podium finish, a dream run 🙂

And next you pair up with a long time partner and crash like nine pins, Kaput 😭

It's all very well to say "A known devil is better than an unknown angel". But who cares, your passion calls you - devil or angel - you make a beeline to the table!

For those die - hard enthusiasts, bridge is an obdurate passion, indeed!

Happy bridging,

VNR
