Partner Jodo Yatra

Ladies and Gentlemen,

"Partner Jodo Yatra is a challenge!"

In the top echelons of Bridge, partnership is either already established, or easy to jodo.

In the lower echelons, it does not matter!

As usual, the problem is in the middle! Proof? Take any tournament in the BBO and look at the partnership desk! It is like looking at the "Matrimonials" column of The Hindu, Sunday edition 😂

For casual bridge or a "quickie" Team game or an insipid, run- off-the mill pair event - it does not matter. You don't lose your sleep for whom you are playing with!

But it does matter for some. They need to look at the horoscopes, comb through the profiles, possibly look at the photos ( if there is a DP on the profile). Even one looks at the bbo name, country, skill level, proficiency rating before you say "I do" 🙃

It certainly is a journey, however arduous that may be with no assurance for success... alas!

It is more or less akin to Bharat jodo yatra! You get new partners along the way, South to North and East to West, still trying to decipher with whom you should tie the knot 😂

Your pedigree, surname, your "kundli" ( profile / CC), everything matters for your matrimonial bliss 😌

Ultimately what is the secret of success? You want a continued, peaceful and non-violent co-existence, learn to keep your mouth shut at the table 😅

All the partnership woes start from... Not system, conventions or lack of them.. But your tongue!

The lesser you talk, more the longevity of your partnership. Keep your "Gift of the gab" on the back burner, please 🙏

Most bridge divorces happen, thanks to your tongue ( or shall I say "Tongue - in - cheek" comments?).

In Bridge matrimony, the partner jodo yatra is a solemn ceremony. Do it in right earnest to live happily ever after 🙂

Happy bridging,
Cheers
VNR
