Ring out the Old

And, for the last day of 2021, a few thoughts and observations (all my own work).......

Like this is the first time in my memory that we are going into a new year with a sense of foreboding..... while last year, we were well in the grip of Covid, the sense around a year ago was that the pall was about to lift. Right now, the sense is that Omicron may once again put the brakes hard on resumption of life as we knew it before.

Like, 11 months of the year has been full of hard fought online bridge. Unfortunately, the last month has been strangely lacklustre with no nationwide event.

Like the start of face to face bridge in pockets has provided a sense of joy and satisfaction to many. But scaling it to full fledged regular bridge is going to be extremely challenging.

Like this year, we lost a few, seriously young bridge players. Makarand Kulkarni, Biman Chatterjee and Inu Bose. Your memories will live with us forever!

Like nevertheless, life has to and will go on. The whole of January is peppered with a variety of National Championship Events organized by the BFI along with various sponsors. We hope to see participation back at the high levels associated with such events.

Like BridgeFromHome will strive to continue to provide bridge lovers with high quality events. Like all of you will continue to respond to our events with great enthusiasm. Without you, dear readers, we are nothing.

And this final thought. May the Omicron scare turn out to be a damp squib, sooner rather than later and may 2022 be a year of health and joy for all of us.
