Rumination is Good

V N Ramamoorthy

Ladies and Gentlemen

Rumination is a natural digestive practice for animals with split hooves and 4 legs. In lay terms it is also described as 'Chewing the Cud'.  It is recommended as a good habit for the 2 legged specimens (with bird brain).

Jokes aside, rumination is equivalent to "Post mortem"in Bridge. You can chew your own cud too, by analyzing your the deals you played!

Post mortems are noisy affairs, mostly that is, arguments and counter arguments floating freely at high decibels. But ultimately what matters is :  have you learnt anything new?

But chewing the cud in isolation is my cup of tea 😃. No discussion, no arguments, no shouting, no cursing - simply divine isolation, rumination in other words.  After you reach a certain level of proficiency, you do not need teaching, least of all, preaching!

You are good enough for self learning and be your own judge. You could employ a panel of jury (renowned stars or experts) just to throw the ball around to get a feel of what they say. But their comments or criticisms need not be palatable, all the time!

Go ahead and be your own judge. Ruminate, rejoice, repent, whatever - do it in isolation 😉

Self learning anyday looks better than post mortem, don't you feel?

Eschew the worthiness of my brief, go ahead, chew your own cud, it will help your digestion and quality of your bridge 🙂

Happy bridging,
Cheers

  • Your writing and your views are so appealing and sensible and so full of peace. I wish there were more people like you, or that your writing may influence some others to be so. Self teaching is the best teaching. Thanks and please keep it up.
