The Angst After(?) Covid
Corona, in its wake, has overturned lives and caused mayhem. In all this, the bright silver lining has been the ability to play online bridge. As we come close to saying goodbye to Corona, social engagements have been added to the mix of what was previously only work and play. The poem below, in a lighter vein, represents my struggle in adjusting to the new world order (as it were).
The invites are coming in hard and fast
Their speed is leaving me quite aghast
Dressing up makes me feel miscast
At a party, in the corner, on BBO, I feel outcast
It all changed, when Putin invaded Ukraine
Social distancing and corona went out with the rain
Good riddance, it caused so much strife and pain
But back then, bridge was my only gain
Is something wrong? I would rather stayman
Than catch the next show of Batman
Finding the balance should be the game plan
What to do! Of bridge I am such a die hard fan
It’s not a passion, but an obsession
A life without bridge, would be a recipe for depression
Balance be damned, that’s my confession
I will always find time for the next session!
