Summer Nationals 24 – an updated preview

It is over a week since I had posted my preview to the Nationals. I am just taking a review of what has happened in the intervening time.

It is with a lot of sadness that I have to report that the SCoC still not uploaded?

The implications of the same are as follows:

  1. Number of Boards in Swiss League is still not clear
  2. Does the BFI really intend qualifying 16 teams Silver?
  3. What will the non Qualifiers in Silver to on Day 2?
  4. Clarity on Play Offs in Both Gold and Silver is lacking
  5. Master Points for Shree Cements still not loaded on Website

I really wonder why the last has not happened since it is now over a month since Shree Cements has got over. If I am reading the website rite, then two local Kolkata Tournaments have also been updated. When the BFI can take into account ranking points from the tournament, why can't they, or the player not be able to do the same for the Nationals?

The only issue addressed from the my first preview is that the Master points are now showing correctly on the website. The person in charge of the website admitted to me privately that it was a simple matter to correct, but he was overwhelmed by other BFI work. Which brings me to the point, Why can other people not also be involved in the maintenance of the website? A couple of names who spring to mind are Prashanth K from Vishakhapatnam and Shouvik Das from Kolkata. Arguably Soumadeep Ghosh from Kolkata may be a good third alternative as well. I am sure there are more, but these name come off the top of the mind.

It would have been nice if somebody from the BFI had taken cognizance of this post. I had requested the BFI President to please address the issue a couple of days ago and he assured me that it is being done.

Unfortunately, I don't see any activity on this front over the last couple of days. One may argue that 48 hours is a bit less to react. However, the issues have been persisting since 15th of May for the SCoC. And with the Nationals just 2 weeks away, every day counts a lot.

The sooner these questions are resolved, the better it will be for everybody.
