Vijya Jajoo Memorial Mixed Pairs Tournament

The Vijya Jajoo Mixed Pair event reached a fitting climax today with Jesal Dabriwala and Soumya Das lifting the trophy, just a nose ahead of veterans, Kiran Nadar and B Satyanarayana. Neena Shah and Kaustubh Deodhar finished in 3rd place. A total of 65 pairs had participated in the elimination phase of this event which saw 28 pairs battling for the trophy in the finals.

While Jesal and Soumya (or Dashu as he is popularly known), led from very early in the day, Kiran and Satya were also close in the hunt. In the end they finished just short, a mere 4 odd match points behind the winners.

While this is Jesal's first major win, we hope that this is the first of many. Many congratulations to Dashu and Jesal once again.

In 4th place, we saw another creditable performance from the pair of Soham Sarkar and Veena Bobb. Soham has been  giving out a string of convincing results and we hope he goes on to perform well, not only in the field of bridge, but also in life in general.

In the meanwhile, in the Upasana Jajoo tournament, for the non qualifiers, Ramani Menon and Alok Daga pulled off an amazing last round win to pip Runners Up, Vasanti Shah and Satyabrata Mukherjee to the top by one solitary match point. In third place were Meenakshi Alwani and Anant Somani. Indeed, the performance of the third placed pair is extremely creditable if you view the rest of the top rankers in this field.
