16th World Bridge Games – Day 13

Sukrit Vijayakar

The curtains drew on the 16th World Bridge Games last night and this is our final report of the event.

To start with, the Indian Highlights

  • Indian Seniors have to rest content with second place. Congratulations to them.
  • Binod and Sanjit win the Adolfo D Madala event
  • Indian Mixed team finish 2nd in Transnational teams, Category C. Indian women rise to 6th place.
  • As an aside the coaches of both finalists, Joyjit Sensarma and Girish Bijoor, were Indians, so we can possibly take a little joy from that as well

We have below the photographs of the prize winners on the podium. But, before we take your leave, we do hope you have enjoyed our coverage of the games. Please do leave feedback in the comments section

The USA seniors stamped their class on the Seniors competition with an emphatic, 93 imp win over India. While India did win the 4th session narrowly, the USA simply pulled away in the remaining two to emerge deserving victors

Poland won the open section by 50 imps with two big wins in the 3rd and 4th sessions.

The womens title was arguably the closest of all the final matches with Turkiye emerging deserving winners by a mere 15 imps.

After trailing by 32 imps at the half way stage, Poland staged a comeback with a mammoth final session which they won by 73 imps to finally emerge victors by just 11 imps!
