All India Shree Cements Open – Day 2

Swiss Teams
The first set of the Quarter finals was played last night. Updated scores should be available at our home page. Today, we expect to see some live action on the VU Graph. Team Mohota and Shree Cements have taken comfortable leads over their opponents. The other two matches are much closer.

Earlier, 16 teams faced each other in the pre quarter finals and the results are as seen on the left. Formidables is a big name missing from this list. Lying 17th at the end of the 7th round, they could only score 8.86 VPs to end 20th. Another big name missing was that of team Hemant Jalan. They had a bad set in the morning, losing by a big margin to Rampage. Shree Cement pulled their socks and pulled two big wins to just squeeze in to 16th place by 0.1 VP ahead of Team Vacant Spaces

In the Quarter finals, there were two upsets with team Baneet (Baneet Malhotra, Rana Roy, Alok Daga, Kingshuk Bhattacharjee, Anirban Mitra) overcoming Dhampur Sugar Mills and Dr. R L Sanghi (Dr. Sanghi, Sunil Sinha, S M Moin, Prasun Mukhopadhyay, Prosenjit Manna and Joyrup Mallick) getting the better of Rampage.

Match Point Pairs

At the end of set one, two Maharashtra pairs R. Shridharan and Anand Samant and Vijay Deshpande and Jesal Dabriwala had taken the first two places. They were closely followed by two 'formidable' pairs of Keyzad Anklesaria and Rajeshwar Tewari and D Majumder and Sumit Mukherjee. The results for set one can be seen here.

The results of set 2 were not available at the time of publishing. However, we were informed that the pair of Anal Shah and Pritam Das scored a mammoth 81.73% in the second set to obtain a combined score of 61.78%. Prosanto Hait and Prasanto Banerjee lead the field into the second session with a combined score of 65.46%. Keyzad and Tewari were second with an overall score of 65.06%. We were unable to reconcile the combined results with the first set.
