Ladies and Gentlemen,
Prima facie, there is nothing in common between Politics and Bridge per se.
But take another look
For example, you have the vocabulary, maybe. There exist "Major(ity)", " Minor(ity)", Splits, percentage plays, cashing of tricks or votes, deceptive moves and leads, transfer of "Suit" cases et al.
Unity in diversity is a good formula for both bridge and politics!
Mahagatbandhan may be a non- starter in political strategy. But it works well when it comes to TTT ( Teaching To Teach) initiative in Bridge.
There may not exist CPM or BJP in Bridge. But CMP ( Common minimum program) and Bridge Janata Promotion do ✌
You need to have " finesse" to be successful in both. And "Strip - squeeze", divide & rule, elimination throw ins and splinters work magic in both 🙃
A basic tenet for both politicians and bridge players is " One-upmanship "!
You may not have a flag or symbol for bridge. But you certainly need a manifesto of system and strategy 😌
2024 is approaching fast - let us unanimously cast our votes for - Bridge!
Happy bridging ,
VNR
