Ladies and Gentlemen,
"Is Bridge akin to a horse racing? "
You bet, bridge and horse racing have many things in common!
In a race club there are stables while in bridge there must be tables.
Grooming and seeding are relevant to both. It is another matter that a brid(g)egroom always arrives on a horse back!
Both bridge and race are thrilling if there is a photo- finish at the end! In one you need to have a nose up and in the other you need to play with your nose down.
Horses go round the green turf whereas bridgers go across green baize in search of the finishing line 🙂.
Pedigrees do matter for races, but percentages decide bridge winners.
Keeping to the same track is must for a race, albeit changing the track ( and tacts) is a strategy in bridge.
Places and Triple are gains in a race while a double / redouble fetches you more in bridge.
You need to have an "animal" instinct to win a race but you need to whip up a "horse
sense" for bridge.
You always need a "Jockey" astride a steed but the Jacks enable you to carry out a finesse on bridge table.
You can take a horse to a pond but one needs a bridge partner to respond🙃
Next time someone asks you "Race or Bridge?"- I bet you will choose the latter 👍
Happy punting on a bridge table,
VNR
