Bridge Players, Know Yourselves

V N Ramamoorthy

Ladies and Gentlemen

"Never Lie To Yourself in Bridge!"

There is no denying the fact that every player desires to improve his skills.
A beginner wants to graduate to intermediate / advanced and so on. Even the experts and stars aspire to become Internationals or world class 😌

There are methods and steps to escalate oneself. Perseverance certainly paves the way to perfection in any field including Bridge!

As time grows, you even learn the dark arts - like false carding, clairvoyant bidding and misleading the opponents. Age old dictum is "Not telling the truth is not tantamount to lying".🤥

You may masquerade as an Expert even if you are not.

But the underlying truth is you know your skills and limitations as you know your own mind!

The ideal strategy therefore is "Not to lie to yourselves"! Honesty to oneself is the best policy to start with 🙂

Once you have this maturity, you start growing in your quality!

It is never too late to try. You can't be faulted for trying 😉

Next time you are at the table, be honest to yourself, if not to others!

Happy and Honest bridging,

Happy bridging,

Cheers
