Interesting Deals from the Last Tournament
This deal is from last weekend's Smt. Laxmi Mujumdar Mem. Mixed Pairs.
West was in a heart contract (4♥, 5♥ or 6♥) on the ♦J lead. Reading the lead accurately, declarer wins the ♦A and draws trumps. The main path to making the contract is to bring in the spade suit for no loser. When declarer cashes the ♠A-K, they discover that North has a spade winner. It costs nothing to cross to dummy with a trump and ruff a club before playing a spade to North's jack. Left with only clubs, North is endplayed to give a ruff-and-discard. S K Bandyopadhyay (in 6♥ X) and Puja Batra (in 4♥) executed the elimination-and-endplay to make twelve tricks.
Sudhir Chokshi Memorial Swiss Pairs
Sunit Chokshi is proud to host a Swiss Pairs Championship from 19-21 February.
This will start with a couple of rounds on Friday followed by 7 rounds on Saturday. At the end of 9 rounds, the field will be split into gold and silver which will play 7 more rounds on Sunday.
Trios are permitted.
