Mavericks win Future Masters Teams Event

Mavericks (Subodh Maskara, Amit Dabriwala, Jesal Dabriwala, Pritam Das, Subrata Guha, Tapan Bhattacharya) won the champions in a masterly fashion beating Avengers Assemble (Soham Sarkar, Bijit Datta, Saila Ranjan Das, Shouvik Das, Biswadip Roy and Mithun Mukherjee) by 68.3 IMPs to 53.  As a matter of fact, the runners up, who had been dominating the event throughout, never once took the lead.  Mavericks had also beaten this team in the Swiss League and only went on to reaffirm their superiority.

Both teams had two promising juniors. Mavericks had Pritam Das who secured second place in the Silver pairs for juniors in Salsomaggiore. Avengers Assemble was led by Soham Sarkar, a youngster who has already won a National Title (Swiss Pairs). We hope to see both of them achieve many more laurels for themselves and for the country.

In the play off for third place, Jiya (Anirban Sarkar, Sujan Choudhary, Arun Majhi, Chandan Mitra, Dipak Pal and Sailen Das) won comfortably over Proyas (Sagar Bhuiya, Tanmoy Mujumdar, Rajesh Jain, Sisir Banerjee, Prasanta Bera and Santanu Chakraborty) with a score of 91 IMPs to 72.

Kalpana Gurjar and Vidya Patel win IMP Pairs

Kalpana Gurjar and Vidya Patel continued to develop on the promise shown by them in Salsomaggiore by winning the title in this Future Masters event with a score of 70.82 Imps. We do believe that they are indeed Future Masters in the making. Anupam Ghosh and Tirthankar Sengupta were in second place with a score of 56.19 Imps. Mridul Das and Hemant Kumar Sarmah, who topped the eliminations finished 3rd. We believe that this pair too are masters in the making. Click here for the detailed results .

Vote of Thanks

It goes without saying that this event would not have taken place without the kind sponsorship of Subodh Maskara who really put up a decent prize money for an event excluding the champions of the country. It goes without saying we hope this event will be a regular event in the bridge calendar.

We would also like to thank all of you, dear participants, without whom this event was almost a non starter.

We hope to see a better response in future editions of such events. We would like to remind you that such events come very rarely and are to be treasured.
