Bridge – An influence or an infection?

V N Ramamoorthy

Ladies and Gentlemen

Some things in life can influence you. And some others can infect!

Bridge can be infectious, no doubt!
The game of bridge can influence and infect at the same time 😌

Some occasions, you feel at ease. Conversely, there are times when you feel ill too.
But the only place you feel ill at ease is the Bridge table!

Every deal can be an ordeal if you ask me. You bungle in bidding, you botch an iron clad contract or sabotage an easy defence and yet you are effervescent to face the next board 🙃.

Is it a myth or magic? Hard to say.

One moment you are rejoicing and the next second you are ruminating. All in quick succession!

How to keep your mental equilibrium, irrespective of whether you win or lose, is a challenge, alright.

But for many of us the infection has gone down to the bones and marrow. There is no escape!

Treat the bridge table as your yoga mat. Do not let the happenings there disturb your mental peace.
It is easier said than done. Let the infection take over and get influenced.

Time for another deal, yet another duel is on the cards.

Happy bridging,

Cheers
VNR
