Alone in a Madding Crowd!

V N Ramamoorthy

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Bridge is a social sport crowded by partners, team mates and kibitzers. Yet it can be " Claustrophobic ", at times 😭

You have to concede that this game is not individualistic. Unless of course you are playing in an 'individual' event.

Even then, you cannot play alone 😔. You will have to play with different / unknown partners or a robot 😢. Either it is a duo or a team and there is no need to feel lonely.

Inspite of a partner's presence, however, you can feel lonely 😔. Because you are alone in the "thinking process" !

Very often, in typical deals, you are destined to be a lone warrior. You alone can either make or break the contact. And the credit or debit is all yours without your asking!

After all, all the planning and thinking you need to do in the closed space of your mind, notwithstanding the communications and signals from your mate and adversaries, that is.

Yet, at times, you feel "Claustrophobic"on the table, crowded with three and some kibtizers around ( if you are a celebrity, of course).

Cheer up, you are not alone, even if you are feeling lonely 😔

Happy bridging,

Cheers
