Swiss Teams
Setu (Prasanta Bera - Priyotosh Sarkar - Saurendranath Chakrabarti - Sujit Bhattacharyya - Swapan Some) finished their bridge building (Setu is actually a bridge) in style conquering yet another stalwart team from India, namely Dhampur Sugar Mills (Anindya Bhattacharya - Ashok Kumar Goel - Kaustabh - Kaustubh Bendre - Sagnik Roy - Sayantan Kushari - Somesh Bhattacharya - Vinay Desai).
The match was virtually a slug fest with first one team dealing a blow only to have it responded with a similar one of nearly equal to better strength. The first session saw Setu nose ahead by 2 imps. The second session saw DSM moving a short head in front with a lead of 7 imps.
The last session too continued with both sides going hammer and tongs at each other till, with just two boards to go, the difference was just 1 imp. Then came board 29 when, at the Setu table, Sagnik decided to stretch for game. Unfortunately, it went past Young's modulus (This is a very bad physics pun. Couldn't be resisted because of Sagnik and can be safely ignored), and the contract went 1 down. At the DSM table, the Setu pair sedately lapsed in 2S and collected 6 imps. On the last board, Kaustabh and Sagnik bid 5 Clubs with some science. At the other table, Priyotosh simply bid 3NT in response to his partner's 1 Diamond bid and gained his side more imps to end up winning the event by a mere 10 imps!

IMP Pairs
Kannan K and Seenivasagan B conquered all before them in the finals of the IMP pairs event. In fact, such was their command of the event that they were leading almost throughout. S V Ramana Rao and N. R. Naidu finished a close second, less than 2 imps behind. Ajay Khare and Raju Tolani finished third, a further 2 imps behind. All in all, it was a very well fought event. Congratulations to the prize winners.
