RV on KK

R Venkatesh

K.Krishnakumar (KK as he was popularly known), got back to serious competitive bridge, post his IIT/IIM days, after he moved back to Chennai in mid to late 90s.

I have fond memories of playing in the same team as KK, for Well Knit and achieving some.of my biggest successes.ย  KK was not only a very good player, but could get the best out of various sponsors and a fantastic co-ordinator (put together very strong teams for Well Knit, Texan Aces and Arun Jain).

ย

KK, as part of Texan Aces, won a Silver medal in the 3rd Euro Open bridge champs at Antakya, Turkey in 2007 in addition to multiple wins at national level.

He was diagnosed with late stage cancer in 2010, but came back bravely to play one last event (HCL) the same year, partnering Arun Jain and finishing runner-up behind a very strong Australia National team in the finals. It is unfortunate that we lost KK soon afterwards. I will cherish all my memories with KK over a decade or so.

Really pleased that Arun Jain came up with the idea of a tournament in his memory. Would request all of you to join me in this small tribute to him.
