Now that the major Diwali festivities are over, we can start paying attention to the next big event coming up in Bridge.
The UNN Rao Memorial Bridge Tournament is a unique tournament with grand prizes and a rather long format. Over the past week or so, we have had many queries and we will try and answer them in some sequence that is hopefully enlightening.
1. Why is the tournament so long? I cannot play all the days
The qualifier is made up of 4 Individual Tournaments. Each of these is a stand alone event with their own prizes. So if you wish, you can play any one or more of these events separately.
If you play in 3 of these tournaments, you are eligible to play in the finals. Based on your performance in the event, you can play in either the gold final or the silver final. You can also opt to not play the finals.
If you opt to play the finals, you have to play all the three days. But that is a choice you can make later!
2. Do I need to have a Master Point Number to play?
Ideally, all Indian players should register themselves with BFI and obtain a Master Point number. But this is not mandatory for participating in this event.
3. Can Foreign Nationals play? They do not have a Master Point Number.
Yes, foreign nationals can play. They can leave the Master Point Number field blank. It is not a Mandatory field. We would recommend putting your nationality in that field for our information.
4. Are Trios allowed?
The answer to that is Trios are not allowed. This is something determined by the organizers.
5. I have never played on RealBridge before. How can I familiarize myself with the environment
The organizers are putting in place a trial room where users can log in and test if they can see / hear themselves. Details will be put up shortly.
6. How do I register for individual events?
That is easy. You simply click on the tab for that event and you will be able to sign up.
7. How does signing up for the whole event benefit me?
If you examine the entry fee structure, the entry fee for each individual qualifier is Rs. 300. That totals up to Rs. 1,200.
The entry fee for the finals is Rs. 900.
Therefore, to play each leg would totally cost you Rs. 2,100. Even if you play just 3 qualifiers, it would cost you Rs. 1,800.
Signing up for the whole event costs just Rs. 1,400.
So, if you intend playing the finals at all, it makes sense to buy the ticket for all events.
